Are you interested in the possibility of creating a dog park in Stanton Heights? Or, have you wanted to improve our community parks & greenspaces while promoting positive storm water infrastructure?
The January 20th
meeting of the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association will focus on possible future uses of Kelly field and the surrounding park space, including the potential for adding a dog park in the future. Specifically, we will have guests from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy
to discuss the Heth’s Run project which sits below Stanton Heights towards Morningside and Highland Park. This coalition has received a number of grants to study and develop a plan for storm water within the watershed (Kelly Field and the surrounding green space form the upper-ridge). They will give a summary of their work to be followed by a discussion about how residents are currently using Kelly Field and the surrounding park space and how we would like to see it used in the future, to include a possible dog park. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 20th from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the library of Sunnyside Elementary school.
Additionally, there will be a Green Committee Meeting
at 6 pm on Monday, January 11th
at 153 Stanton Courts East. Anyone interested in the rain garden
and love your block project
or discussing green infrastructure around Kelly Field should plan to attend. For more details or to RSVP (dinner provided!) please email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you missed the last neighborhood clean up, you have yet another chance to participate! On May 18th, a group of community volunteers will be sprucing up the Eric Kelly Memorial Field behind Sunnyside Elementary School.
Residents are encouraged to help remove all invasive plants, brush, junk and debris from the field and park on Sunday, May 18th anytime between 9:00 am at 3:00 pm. If you have a truck or trailer with landscaping supplies/tools and would like to help pick up or haul away items that would be greatly appreciated!
Stanton Heights residents and lanscapers – let’s show your spirit and make it a better place for our families, friends, and children to enjoy together with a “New, Safe and Fresh Looking” field and park!
